The NEW Covenant of David
Hearken unto me, my people; and give ear unto me, O my nation: for a law shall proceed from me, and I will make my judgment to rest for a light of the people.
One of the most confusing, and controversial, exchanges in the New Testament is the exchange between Our Lord and Savior Yeshua the Christ and Religious Jews in John Chapter 10.
This part of John is usually cited for proof that Yeshua “supposedly said” he was God when he said in:
John 10:30 “the Father and I are One”.
90% or so of the accepted Christian Church dogma can find its roots within these passages in the Holy Word. Little do they know that Yeshua’s specific
answer when accused of declaring himself to be God holds the key to not only understanding Yeshua’s words at the moment but understanding Yeshua and the Word period.
John Chapter 10
30 I and my Father are one.
31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
First; the people he was talking to had NO idea what Yeshua was referencing when he said “Ye are gods” and written in your Law. Keyword is LAW, which establishes a Covenant. The Religious Jews had no idea what Yeshua was talking about.
Yeshua was referencing;
Psalm Chapter 82 verse 5,6,7
5- They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.
6 - I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.
7- But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.
Isaiah Chapter 41 verse 22,23, 24
22- Let them bring them forth, and shew us what shall happen: let them shew the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come.
23- Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.
24- Behold, ye are of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination is he that chooseth you.
From that point on Yeshua knew, because the chapters of Psalm 82, Isaiah 41, Isaiah 42, 1 Chronicles 17 establishes the new Covenant of Christ and predicts what kind of feeble, ignorant, mind will exist during Yeshua’s stay on earth and the centuries after Christ’s time on Earth. Psalms mentions the same exact thing, the gods (men) on earth will die as if they are nothing in the end.
Isaiah starts off with Prophecy surrounding the fact that men will tell God who is God and will declare what the scripture said in the past and it will mean in the future. Pay particular attention to the passages in Isaiah when God is saying US and WE.
The Lord speaks and the King of Jacob or the King of Jews (Yeshua) speaks.
Isaiah Chapter 41
20 That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the LORD hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.
21 Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob.
22 Let them bring them forth, and shew us what shall happen: let them shew the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come.
23 Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.
24 Behold, ye are of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination is he that chooseth you.
25 I have raised up one from the north, and he shall come: from the rising of the sun (Pagans in the Early Church) shall he call upon my name: and he shall come upon princes as upon morter, and as the potter treadeth clay.
26 Who hath declared from the beginning, that we may know? and beforetime, that we may say, He is righteous? yea, there is none that sheweth, yea, there is none that declareth, yea, there is none that heareth your words.
27 The first shall say to Zion, Behold, behold them: and I will give to Jerusalem one that bringeth good tidings.
28 For I beheld, and there was no man; even among them, and there was no counsellor, that, when I asked of them, could answer a word.
29 Behold, they are all vanity; their works are nothing: their molten images are wind and confusion.
Yeshua pointed us directly to these passages of Pslam 82 and Isaiah 41 when he answered the people in John 34:
34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
And just after the ye are gods scripture in Pslams and Isaiah is God our Father and Yeshua judging the lot of them who tell THEM who will be GOD and will NOT be GOD. It is ridiculous that man has decided what GOD is. Pure madness! And GOD and Yeshua are letting them know before the declaration of the New Covenant in Chapter 42 and after.
A New Covenant was established in the Pslams, Chronicles and Declared in Isaiah.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
David wrote the Psalms and God made a covenant with David that he would always have a Light for Jerusalem.
1 Chronicles 17:12,14
12- He shall build me an house, and I will stablish his throne for ever.
13- I will be his father, and he shall be my son: and I will not take my mercy away from him, as I took it from him that was before thee:
14- But I will settle him in mine house and in my kingdom for ever: and his throne shall be established for evermore.
2 Chronicles 21:7
Howbeit the LORD would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he promised to give a light to him and to his sons forever.
Isaiah lays out this new Covenant in Chapter 42. We will post the entire chapter with commentary.
These are GODS words.
1 Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
2 He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street.
3 A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.
4 He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his LAW.
5 Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein: (HE IS GOD THE ONLY GOD AND THIS IS THE NEW LAW!!)
6 I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;
7 To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.
8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.
9 Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.
10 Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof. (GODS WORDS)(Ties to the Psalms and David’s Covenant)
11 Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar doth inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains.
12 Let them give glory unto the LORD, and declare his praise in the islands.
13 The LORD shall go forth as a mighty man, he shall stir up jealousy like a man of war: he shall cry, yea, roar; he shall prevail against his enemies.
14 I have long time holden my peace; I have been still, and refrained myself: now will I cry like a travailing woman; I will destroy and devour at once.
15 I will make waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs; and I will make the rivers islands, and I will dry up the pools.
16 And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.
17 They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say to the molten images, Ye are our gods.
18 Hear, ye deaf; and look, ye blind, that ye may see.
19 Who is blind, but my servant? or deaf, as my messenger that I sent? who is blind as he that is perfect, and blind as the LORD's servant?
20 Seeing many things, but thou observest not; opening the ears, but he heareth not.
21 The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable.
22 But this is a people robbed and spoiled; they are all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison houses: they are for a prey, and none delivereth; for a spoil, and none saith, Restore.
23 Who among you will give ear to this? who will hearken and hear for the time to come?
24 Who gave Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to the robbers? did not the LORD, he against whom we have sinned? for they would not walk in his ways, neither were they obedient unto his law.
25 Therefore he hath poured upon him the fury of his anger, and the strength of battle: and it hath set him on fire round about, yet he knew not; and it burned him, yet he laid it not to heart.
This Chapter in Isaiah establishes this NEW Covenant that Yeshua the Christ brought to the Earth.
Yeshua’s said in John 10:30
30 - I and my Father are one.
Yeshua also said in John 17:11
11. And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.
We can also be ONE with the Father via his Word, but we will never be perfect in his Word, only one did that, Yeshua, the WORD made FLESH.
Yeshua fulfilled the Covenant of David and is the Light of the Gentiles. Almost every word spoken directly by Yeshua has its reference hidden deep in the Holy Word of God. We must look to the Word first and without hesitation to find the Truth. Jesus is ONE with the Father and that is ONE with the WORD. Jesus not only fulfilled the new Covenant of David he fulfilled the Torah, the Old Law as well by living a sinless life.
AND ALL Covenants made by GOD do not run out, or expire, they continue forever and are everlasting and they all must always be followed.
The Covenant of David is Yeshua and his LIGHT or the WORD
Yeshua said in Matthew 6:22
22. The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
Also in John 12:36
While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.
Jesus fulfilled these prophecies but we don’t read them and look at the warnings before and after in Isaiah.
We set ourselves up to be the final authority when in reality NO MATTER what was said before and after the final WORD belongs to Yeshua on matters pertaining to his relationship with his God our Father.
God makes it abundantly clear that he will not play second fiddle to NO ONE or ANYTHING. Jesus is the SON of GOD, the Divine fulfillment of the LAW or WORD of God.
To close 1st John also stated:
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
We know by Yeshua’s own words the Father is greater than Him, (his words people). We also know the Holy Ghost and or Holy Spirit belong to the Father, period.
So Yeshua’s declaration that he was one with the Father is stating that He is ONE with the Word of his Father, ONE. He is the WORD fulfilled. And that WORD is the LIGHT and the BLOOD of Yeshua the Christ, is OUR path to salvation.
Yeshua is the grand KEEPER of the LAWS of GOD, certainly not the destroyer. GO TO the WORD of GOD and you will find what you are looking for!
